We welcome your interest in Temple Sinai, a vibrant and growing community of more than 190 families and individual members.  Here is some information about the Temple and its programs.

Spiritual Leaders:  Rabbis Linda Motzkin and Jonathan Rubenstein have led our community for over a decade.  They are available to congregants in times of joy or sorrow; they teach adult education classes; train students for Bar and Bat Mitzvah; lead worship services; and represent the congregation in community organizations.  Our congregation benefits greatly from their warmth, compassion, and breadth and depth of knowledge.

Religious School:  We offer a fine religious school program with an experienced administrator, a dedicated staff of paid teachers and many active parent volunteers. Our Sunday school program begins with pre school classes for three-year-olds and continues through Confirmation at the end of tenth grade. Teens who are in the Confirmation program also serve in the religious school as teachers' aides, administrative aides, and Israeli folk dance instructors. Our Hebrew school program meets on Wednesday nights for students in 3rd through 7th grade. Annual tuition is $330 per child for Sunday Judaica, $215 per child for Preschool, plus $40 for books for Hebrew students. Tuition for Confirmation class is $115 per student. Bar/Bat Mitzvah tutoring fee $275.00 per child.

Youth Programs:  We have three youth groups, which offer social and educational programs for children in grades 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12.  Our senior youth group, SCiTSY, (Saratoga County Temple Sinai Youth) is affiliated with NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth), the youth wing of the Reform movement.

Havurah Vatik (Elder Friends): A group for Jewish Seniors, 55 plus, holds monthly events with an interesting speaker, a free home cooked lunch, and an opportunity to socialize.

Membership Activities:  We offer a varied program of educational, social, and religious activities.  Join the women's Rosh Hodesh group.enjoy membership parties and picnics.attend such adult education classes as Building a Jewish Home, weekly Bible Study, Adult Hebrew, Introduction to Judaism, Interfaith Issues Workshop. . . or help strengthen our community by joining social action projects such as the monthly soup kitchen sponsored by the Temple.

Worship Services:  Temple Sinai offers Shabbat evening services (family services, at which young children are particularly welcome, are offered once each month), and Saturday morning services.  Tot Shabbat and summer Adirondack Shabbat experiences add additional variety.  Our High Holiday services, held in recent years at Skidmore College's Bernhard Theater, are open to all.  Please contact the Rabbis for more information on these and other worship services.

Dues:  Annual dues are $790 for single membership, and $1,135 for family membership. In addition, we have a new building assessment of $500, payable over five years, beginning in the second year of membership. We do not deny membership to anyone on the basis of financial need. Requests for dues reductions may be discussed, in confidence, with our Treasurer, Trudi Renwick. For more information on dues, including flexible payment schedules, please contact her at 583-7920.

Thank you once again for your interest in Temple Sinai.  We look forward to meeting you at one of the many upcoming events or services.  Shalom!
